For years, the media has found it quite torrid to compile an authentic list of how much artists in Ghana make out of these business. Whether it is a list of how much they earned in the year, how much they charge for performances or how much they sign for endorsement deals, it has been difficult to get a true picture of what is real.
This difficulty stems from the fact that, the artists have always been unwilling to disclose figures and event organizers and promoters have been adamant to divulge how much they dispense to artists – www.entertainmentgh.com can note.
Thankfully, www.kuulpeeps.com, an entertainment and social website has compiled a list of how much Ghanaian artist charge for shows.
For their preamble or research work that culminated in the list, here is what the website wrote;
“For some time now we have all been wondering how much our favourite artistes like Sarkodie, Shatta Wale or EL will take for performing at a concert. Kuulpeeps went around speaking to artiste managers and some booking personnel to find out how much their artistes will take if they play at a show. Most of the figures we got from the managers were negotiable. Some of the artistes like Worlasi and Adomaa have a different price range if they will be playing with a live band.”
Here is the list;
Unfortunately, the list did not have Stonebwoy, one of the most-utilized artist in the last 3 years. It also did not have the highlife legend, Amakye Dede, who has been performing more than half of the artists on the list in the last year or so.
Also, the website failed to mention the names of the event organizers or promoters they engaged for the figures – and they also failed to mention if these promoters pleaded anonymity on whatever they disclosed.
It also did not mention if such figures were corroborated by the artists that have been listed as highest paid.
It is a good effort, but observers are wondering if this research done by kuulpeeps.com should be taken as a true fact, considering the loopholes it presents as a true and credible document.
