Soldier go, soldier come, but if ‘soldier come’ comes with his own plans and how to run things, then people must run for cover, sit up or adapt.
Concept owners, creative directors and owners of various entertainment-related shows on Viasat 1, aside sports, are running for cover – after the sale of the station, which is now owned by Econet Media and MTG (Modern Times Group), a leading international digital entertainment group.
Investigations by www.entertainmentgh.com prove that owners of entertainment shows are already in talks with other stations to screen their shows.
Agency Ephat, producers for the ‘hit’ shows, ‘Tonight With Nii Kpakpo Thompson’ and ‘Celebrity Fan Zone’ are in talks with Multimedia Group to screen the shows.
Other concept developers like Rave group, who produce ‘Muse’ and Linxx Group are in search and in talks with other stations to telecast their shows.
Not even the entertainment and political shows put together by Viasat will survive the take over. It is now a 24/7 sports channel and anything outside the domain is out!
Information also has it that, the name of the station would also be changed.
African media network, Econet Media and MTG (Modern Times Group), a leading international digital entertainment group announced the conclusion of the sale of MTG’s Ghanaian free-to-air terrestrial channel Viasat 1 and Modern African Productions (MAP) to the Econet Media Group some days ago.
Econet Media has acquired all MTG assets in Ghana as well as MAP’s operations in Ghana and Nigeria as part of this deal and will retain all staff.
The process has already started to officially rebrand Viasat 1 to Kwesé Free Sports, Econet Media’s premium free-to-air sports channel within its Kwesé TV network.
Kwesé Free Sports is Africa’s first truly Pan-African free-to-air sports channel which is available in 19 countries of which five; Kenya, Rwanda, Malawi, Uganda and now Ghana, have the full 24/7 channel.
